The Christmas period saw the South West stage the first of what it hopes will be a regular event with a railway themed pub-quiz.
Despite the weather, six teams battled it out and surprised the event’s organisers by knowing what Isaac Dripps invented, why trains change sides at some international borders and how far a train can be driven into the Severn Tunnel. However, the film 'Closely Observed Trains' and Artur Honegger's piece 'Pacific 231' beat them. The team from the Permanent Way Institute certainly didn't disgrace themselves.
The event itself was a great success, with plans to increase its popularity through improved publicity (and hopefully some better weather). Profits raised will go towards the 'Railway Children' charity.
