Steve Brown retires

After many years in the rail industry and a considerable number of those as a member of the IRO Midlands Area Council, Steve Brown, Network Planning & Logistics Manager for DBSchenker, has finally rung “train out of section” and retired. Commenting on his time with the IRO Steve says

“After being approached by Colin Robey to serve on the Midlands Area Committee in its earliest days I was delighted to act until now as the “freight representative” within the group which has always been widely representative of the main players in the Midlands railway scene. I have always sought to source events to open the eyes of IRO members and students to the often unknown world of freight operators and hope that I succeeded in doing so as well as representing freight at other meetings and functions. It has been an honour to serve on the committee and as I move off into retirement I would wish my successor and the Midlands area every success in the future.”

Steve will be greatly missed by his Council colleagues, although we confidently expect to see him at some of our events in the future! His role as “freight representative” is taken on by Martin Ward who is a Production Manager for DBSchenker based at Toton (see Member Profile).
