What is your current role?

I am currently employed as Train Presentation Manager for Northern Rail based at York. My responsibilities are to set the train presentation standards for Northern, ensuring continual improvements are delivered through products, training and best practice forums. Within my role I look at long and short-term strategies to improve National Passenger Survey scores and reduce customer complaints for train presentation issues.

How long have you been a member of the IRO and at what grade?

I joined the IRO in 2009 as an Affiliate Member.

Why did you join the IRO?

I joined the IRO to learn more about the industry I worked in and understand the core values of the IRO. Since joining, it was clear that every opportunity was available to further my education within the industry, with the support offered through members second to none. The experience and knowledge retained within the IRO is a great source to learn and be mentored from,

Are you involved in any Continuous Professional Development (CPD) with the IRO? If so, which programme/course?

No, not as yet.

Do you have any plans for further study?

As I have not been in my current role very long, I intend to investigate my options to further my education within the industry next year, using the support from the IRO.
