The South East Area Council has arranged the following events programme:
Following our oversubscribed visit to King’s Cross last October we are holding a repeat event to allow more people the opportunity to visit. Kings Cross controls First Capital Connect, East Coast, Hull Trains & Grand Central services as well as entrance to one of the busiest stations in the UK. This visit will be an opportunity to understand the role the box plays in service delivery and ensuring that PPM targets are met. Numbers are strictly limited so you must register your interest in advance. Location: King's Cross Contact: Glen Merryman se.events@railwayoperators.org
In conjunction with Southeastern we will be learning more about high speed railway operations. Starting at St Pancras, some delegates will have the opportunity for a cab ride as we travel to Ashford. There we will see the driver training simulators before looking around the high speed depot. After lunch there will be a visit to Ashford IECC to learn more about the signalling and control sides to HS1. The overall aim of the day is to provide some practical railway operating experience to those IRO members who wish to increase their own knowledge and skills as part of their personal plan for continual professional development. It is especially useful to those members who are currently involved in an IRO academic programme.
