SOUTH WEST AREA COUNCIL
WELCOME
The South West Area welcomes all IRO members and prospective members, wherever they live or work. We cater essentially for those based west of Didcot through to West Wales, Worcester/Hereford and Cornwall. Most of our members are from the Swindon, Bristol and Cardiff areas, but this year we are looking to recruit new members from across the South West, with a view to holding events throughout the region.
2010 also sees the largest range of events in our history, including 'Managing a TOC Through the Recession', A 'Question Time' styled event on the subject of 'How Safe is Safe Enough', 'Rail in Wales' - the first major event to be held there, a visit to the Mendip Rail operation and a Master Class on Signal Sighting and SPAD management.
The South West Area Council itself comprises railway operators from a variety of ages and backgrounds. As well as extending a warm welcome to everyone, we are particularly keen to develop our relationships with IRO students and, of course, prospective members and students. Very best wishes to all for the year ahead.
