Personal & Professional Development

This work based learning module will support students in developing a critical understanding of the main theories of experiential and reflective learning. It will also involve students with engaging in reflective practice as a means of reviewing and improving  their own learning in the workplace. Students will be required to produce a Professional and Personal Development Plan

Syllabus

During the module students will cover:

  • Theories of knowledge
  • Theories of experiential learning
  • Theories of reflective practice
  • Models of practical implementation of reflective practice
  • Models of personal and professional development

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module students will be able to:

  • Critically analyse and apply theories of experiential learning and reflective practice for improving own practice
  • Produce an analysis of current and required personal and professional skills relevant for own work role
  • Plan, design and develop a personal and professional development plan
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge required for development within a professional and academic environment
