ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are minimum qualifications necessary to enter this course. However, Glasgow Caledonian University will also consider non-standard qualifications or Recognition of Prior Learning as equivalent to the above as long as these can be evidenced.
Other qualifications, experience or evidence of prior learning which demonstrate that the applicant possesses appropriate knowledge and skill equivalent to the specified entrance requirements, or can be deemed to have a reasonable expectation of fulfilling the objectives of the programme, may be accepted for admission. For further details see Application Process.
The University will consider admission to an appropriate point in a programme of study with credit on the basis of prior learning and/or prior experiential learning. Such learning may be certificated or un-certificated.
Alternative routes to admission:
In general terms, applicants for the degree course who have gained qualifications to (but not above) diploma (eg HND) level will be accepted directly onto the degree programme.
Those who already hold a degree will not be allowed by the university to 'double count' their academic credits and will be asked to submit a 'reflection of prior learning' paper (RPL 1 & RPL 2) to enable them to gain sufficient credits to bypass the diploma level.
CANDIDATES MUST DEMONSTRATE AND QUANTIFY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, PARTICULARLY IN THE AREAS COVERED BY THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME.
This is a significant piece of work which must be completed to the satisfaction of the university before applicants can commence the course. Similarly, degree applicants without qualifications will be asked to submit this paper.
Alternatively, applicants may take the diploma course and if successful, would gain automatic entry onto the degree course. The final decision regarding acceptance onto any level of the programme rests with the university."
