Membership Benefits
1. The Institution arranges a programme of lectures, visits and social events around the country to which all members are welcome. Very few events require prior notice or payment, and most can be attended with guests, who are not members.
2. All members are offered a free subscription to Rail Professional magazine each month, in which the Institution has a regular column with news and articles.
3. All members are welcome to attend the Annual Members Lunch, seminars and other events upon payment of the appropriate fees and subject to availability of places/tickets.
4. The Institution supports the National Continuing Professional Development Scheme (CPD) and is hopes to develop a complementary scheme to assist Railway Operations Professionals to plan their future.
5. The Institution will develop a library and arrange publication of articles and papers on subjects in support of its objectives. Making information available through this website will become an increasing part of our communications strategy.
6. The Institution of Logistics and Transport and the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers have kindly agreed to make their libraries available to members.
7. Members are welcome to attend Railway Study Association (RSA) events in Birmingham, which feature top level speakers on key topics affecting the railway industry. From time to time, it may be possible to give members access to the RSAs London events and other activities.
8. Links have been developed with similar organisations in other countries. For example, agreement has been reached with the American Association of Railroad Superintendents with a view to allowing members of both organisations access to the lecture, seminar and visit programmes of each others organisation on an individual basis. Other contacts, particularly in Europe, will be pursued.
